​​​​​​Pillars of Literacy Gr. 3-5

The pillars represent the different components of literacy that should be a part of our Gr. 3-5 classrooms. Each pillar plays an important role in nurturing students’ growth as readers, writers, thinkers and communicators. ALL of the pillars should be visible in a robust literacy program. The pillars are also connected and overlapping. Many of the literacy learning experiences in our classrooms provide opportunities to work with more than one pillar at a time.
